Jayden has defied expectations every time he’s stepped on the field, glad that there’s some expectations for a slump based on absolutely nothing, he will defy those expectations also Ironically, Caleb Williams is expected to have some massive ascendance in his sophomore season 😂 basically, pundits like nick wright desperately want their pre draft opinions to be validated and the off season is the only time they can get away from it cause they’re proved wrong every Sunday during the regular season
The Commanders have regression written all over them. Not necessarily "miss the playoffs" regression but they were playing with house money last postseason and overachieved thanks to JD5's brilliant season. They absolutely could keep it up, but a sophomore slump would not be shocking either.
The sophmore slump is real. I hope the Redskins don't trade draft choices to find that "one missing piece". They are more than one player away. I think one more year maturation for the QB and 2 drafts to acquire talent and they will be Super Bowl Contenders in '27. By the same theory, could this be the Texans year?
I think a combination of factors lead to CJs slump injuries, bad oline, run game was not consistent, and him being a little off. JD is a little different in that he can use his athleticism and speed and willingness to run to offset that some. I think CJ was most successful later in the year when he ran more. He isn’t as fast as JD but he has enough speed (Mahomes isn’t fast just fast enough). I’m hoping JD doesn’t have a slump as a skins fan and I hope CJ has a big year since I was an early believer, like him, and have him in fantasy. Me drafting him and trading for Nico the same year paid off
The thing with the Texans this season is that even though Stroud had a sophomore slump, the team technically performed better than the previous season, winning one more game. I think something similar can happen with the Commanders where the team is better and Jaden doesn’t need to always be excellent for the team to win
A shout out to big George Mikan and the Minneapolis Lakers. You’ve elevated your game considerably since your presence with Colin. Good for you, and by extension, good for us. Have a great Master’s weekend, young fella…💯
The Redskins defense is AWFUL! That OL played way above their head. Dan Quinn is a moron. But Jayden Daniels was MAGIC! Adding Deebo was a solid move to give them a dynamic weapon. Having his skill set with JD5’s running ability could be dynamic! The team will probably let him down more than a regression from him in year 2 will come.
Stroud said himself.... he even thought Jayden had a better rookie season then him. Like people realize Jayden Daniels may of been one of the best rookie QB's in history, then taking a 4 win team to the NFC championship at 12 wins? It's crazy! Im telling yall now please stop comparing him to CJ and calling it a sophmore slump
The Lions did come out and say they had multiple teams say if they hadn’t taken Gibbs when they did that those teams would’ve, the media never said this just talked about him like he was an overdraft, I love to see them eat their words when he goes off
A lot of these guys 'slump' because of a variety of factors: Added pressure and pattern recognition. Once the film is out and the metrix are calculated, teams know where they 'can' throw to what throws they favor, which direction they throw to most and what they do when they can't throw there. The defenses take away their 'go to' spots and start flooding the box to intercept the eventual scramble. It's how RG3 got taken out. A few guys got better over time but sometimes time catches up before you ever really become anything, no matter how many "mvps" you were handed.
The whole "they have more film on Jayden" is a dumb argument. It's always been a dumb argument. They have 7 years worth of film on Lamar and Allen, 8 years on Mahomes, and 5 years on Burrow. Do you think the league has figured them out after watching all that film? On top of that, CJ and Jayden aren't comparable, as they have entirely different skill sets. Jayden has shown that when plays break down around him, he can still excel at a very high level and make the plays needed consistently like Lamar, Allen, Mahomes, and Burrow. If anything, it'll be the Commanders defense that will define if there's a regression or not.
Curious what you think about a team like the Cardinals moving off Kyler and considering Sanders? Does it not fit what Gannon wants from a clear, offensive decision maker rather than someone without consistency like Kyler?
Bryce has 25 bad games and 9 good. Has a 25:19 TD to INT ratio with below average completion percentage to WRs that are open. If he has a mostly bad season and the Panthers end up with a top 5 pick, they are probably drafting a QB. Because at that point they’d only have 1 more year to decide before paying $60 million per year to Bryce.
I love that question “with your background could you do a mock of the top 5 picks….” Yea man, don’t have to have any experience at all to do a mock of the top 5 hahaha Then John cnat even name the top 5 guys in the draft. This is hilarious
As long as their O Line doesn’t have an unforeseen major regression their OL coach isn’t considering retirement and Kliff doesn’t turn into one of the worst OCs itl the Jayden will be fine
Does anybody wanna bet me that in a big game on third down Kansas City will bring a corner blitz and the other team won’t be ready for it. It’s so frustrating, WE ALL KNOW ITS COMING but teams for some reason don’t prepare for it 🤦🏽♂️
What do Lions fans want? How are they disrespected? They've been amongst SB favorites the last two years and will be included in that mix going into this season. Do they want the sports world to throw them a parade or something?
If you’ve lived in LA your whole life and you’re like 40, old enough to have FULLY experienced Kurt Warner, Tory Holt etc tearing up the league - then I don’t think it’s a nerdy argument. It’s valid, that was ST LOUIS’s team, not yours. No, you do not get to claim that. You didn’t cheer for them then so you don’t get to retroactively claim them now. If we’re gnna say it’s nerdy to say that, then it’s LOSER behavior of the highest order to claim a team that wasn’t yours.
If sanders isn’t goin to be better than purdy especially in the 49ers offense then what are u talking about here . Off pure talent sanders is miles ahead of purdy.
CJ’s team was absolutely ravaged by injuries, his online disintegrated to a bottom 3 in the league unit and his OC found himself unable to adjust to defensive looks based on CJs first years tape. If a scenario like this arises in Wash then JD5 will also struggle his 2nd year.
People get too sensitive if you say the Commanders will have a slump. Obviously, they're good and had a monster season. The playoff run was huge. But, before the playoffs, they basically beat no playoff teams all year. Only win was the Eagles without Hurts and the Eagles smacked the sh!t out of them in the playoffs to show the reality of the situation. They had the 2nd easiest strength of schedule in the NFL last year. They're an obvious choice to have a harder time this year with a harder schedule. Still, I bet people will take this reply and get sensitive.
I'm a Commanders fan, and I think that they win about 10 games this year. Is that a regression when they play two of the toughest divisions in the league and the Eagles twice? What I bristle at is the idea that Jayden himself is going to experience a regression, but other sophomore quarterbacks are going to flourish. Like everyone has just ordained that a hot shot coordinator turned first time HC (those never fail) is going to instantly turn Caleb Williams into an elite qb. You're right. The Commanders could easily struggle this year against a much harder schedule. Especially if they suffer any key injuries. They won't admit it, but their are people desperately hoping that Jayden gets injured this season so that they can write him off as injury prone. Tell me. Am I being sensitive?
McAfee has completely disrupted the industry. He’s also one of the few that doesn’t try to create false narratives and drama around players and teams just for ratings. The old guard can’t stand him because he took away their ability to gatekeep the industry. Everybody knew Steven A Smith’s ego was crushed when McAfee got a contract way bigger than his while also complete creative freedom to do whatever he wants. 😂😂😂
daniels rookie year is really overhyped herberts stats were better by far outside of rating , yall became prisoners of the moments literally with the hail mary vs bears & beating eagles without hurts then got belt to ass when they met again..
Considering the Lions lost both coordinators, especially Ben Johnson who really helped Goff flourish and designed what most considered the best offense in the league…I feel like they have to prove themselves again. I would be surprised if they win more than 11 games. Thats still a good season but it might not be enough in that division.
Lions just lost in the divisional round at home to a rookie QB/middling roster after a 15 win season….the year before they blew a massive lead in the championship game to a second year QB who just went 6-11 in year 3. You just lost both coordinators, including an elite OC and there are legitimate questions about the ceiling of a Goff led team in the playoffs. As there should be. An experienced QB with THAT roster not getting it done is a major red flag. You’re respected as an excellent team, especially on offense…..you’re not respected as a true Super Bowl contender and shouldn’t be until you take care of business. Rams almost won with Goff….moved off him then won. 49ers did the same with JimmyG and got closer with a clearly upgraded QB. Just because you win games, playoff games, even get to an SB doesn’t mean you’re THAT guy. McVay literally said…. “We can win lots of games, including playoff games, with Goff while putting up great stats…we can even make the SB if things break right but we need a better QB to actually win the title”…and was immediately proven right. Goff has done essentially the same thing with Detroit….start poorly amid low expectations, explode with an elite offensive coach and roster talent, put up huge stats, win a shitload of games, win a playoff game, continue ascending, then run into a concrete wall once the competition is good enough or everything isn’t dialed in around you. Detroit needs to start planning for the next QB asap. I’d go defensive line in round one but if Milroe lasted till my second pick I’d consider him.
Found the Philly fan ! God it’s a reason that fan base is the most hated . All the way down to the HC. Just dirty , negative people all around. Nasty dirty people
@@M5oiugygtugged on my heartstrings with this comment…Dallas fans are just illogical and not realistic but Philly has the most insufferable fan base in all of sports
@@shanemallory7291 the fans and HC ruin the public perception of that team. The actual players are likable and easy to root for . If it wasn’t for those disgusting fans and HC they could easily be more marketable as the new faces and potential dynasty of the NFL. Have to blame nimrod fans like this one for that. They are hated so much the nfl is attempting to get rid of the tush push lol . Enough said 🤣🤣😭😭😭😭

The Mt. Everest porta potty description on this one, hilarious.

Thanks John, I value your takes. Appreciated.

Michael Penix Jr finna have a SOPH breakout especially as they trade Kirk for a pick, and fill out the WR/OL positions in the draft and FA
Gotta give it to John. Dude has no respect for Brandon Staley at all. Absolute disgust whenever that name pops up😂😂

They were contenders last year so yea they’re contenders this year too, no reason to think otherwise
Hopefully the QB doesn't have the mindset of being in a sophomore slump this upcoming season.
Jayden Daniel’s is gonna be what you guys thought CJ was. Mvp this year open your eyes
'27? No way! they're already contenders! Save for multiple drops in the NFCC game, they woulda been in the SB already.
